  Nicoya       SMALL Terrier
Male Age: Adult
SmallDog Rescue and Humane Society, Inc Shelter ID: 1060673 Lap ID: 6039901
Click here to see a better picture of me! Nicoya is a terrier lover’s dream. Nicky is white-and-tan, 5 years old, 16 pounds and friendly as all get-out. He ended up with SmallDog Rescue after a short stay in a local animal shelter. He loves people and will rub up against you like a cat. But putting him in the company of real cats is probably not a good idea. This typically-energetic terrier is playful, happy and just an all-around nice guy. To top it off, he gives great kisses. Nicoya would make a dandy family dog, but no small children, please.

WE ONLY ADOPT IN NORTH METRO ATLANTA AND PREFER HOMES WITH A PREVIOUS PET HISTORY. Please visit our website at www.smalldoghumane.org.

Click here to see a better picture of me! The Puppies Stevie and Star

In late August (2008), we received a call from an outlying Humane Society about a mother and 2 pups, picked up by a local ACO.

The mother had severe Demo Mange, and was nursing 2 pups about 5 weeks old.

Knowing that treatment would be about 10 weeks, without a sympathetic rescue this little family was doomed...

We treated the Mother immediately, and not before long; as expected, the pups were showing signs. They seem to be a Boston/Frenchie/Doxie mix; the mother is a Boston/Frenchie. She is well on the way to getting her fur back, and will need to be spayed in the future.

The pups will be fixed in the near term; of course it has been paramount not to do anything to tax the immune systems.

They have been joyful littermates, are very socialized to dogs and people. It would be really nice to place them together in 1 safe home. We are hoping to get a pre-arrangement concluded, so that a loving family can be making preparations to have these 2 wonderful babies under their own Christmas tree.

They have been raised in a cage, so to continue to cage train will not be a problem, ands going to make their housebreaking much more convenient.

Their buddy Ron, in Stone MT GA, will be happy to speak on their behalf, if you are worthy enough, of course. Applications are the first step; to fill one out: go to

  Jill       medium Hound / (Mix)
female Age: adult
Humane Society Mountain Shelter Shelter ID: A07096163 Lap ID: 4523386
Click here to see a better picture of me! As children, we've all heard of Jack and Jill in the nursery rhyme. This is half of the canine version of Jack and Jill - this is Jill, and we have no idea where Jack is. We hope he's doing well. Jill was doing just fine too. She was adopted by some nice people several years ago when they found her as a stray, and everything was going along pretty well until.......her adopted family had to move and they couldn't take her with them. Poor Jill! She's about five years of age and thought she could live out her life in relative comfort. How do we explain this situation to her? there's obviously no way.

Hamilton 874       fat, 18 inches Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie / (crate trained, nochildren/cats)
Male Age: 7 years
Sheltie Rescue of Georgia Shelter ID: Pure Lap ID: 5460686
Click here to see a better picture of me! Hamilton is very relaxed. Probably a bit too relaxed as he could use some excercise and a LOT of weight loss. He is 42 pounds and needs to be around 35. We are working on it. He is friendly, quiet, and low maintenance. He has a pretty sable and white coat. He is quirky around some people and other dogs. He will test the bounds, and needs a strong owner who will be in charge. He knows sit, down, roll over, and shake. He walks well on leash and rides well in cars. He will do better in a home with no children. Hammi is neutered, up-to-date on his shots, heartworm and flea preventative, is heartworm and fecal negative, and is microchipped. His adoption fee is $275.00. (KnJ)
